A review of the EnGenius SN-920 by a user, 1/15/2001

In my range testing, the EnGenius SN-920 long range cordless phone pretty much lived up to its amazing advertized range--but only with the expensive, difficult, and dangerous installation of the outdoor antenna. However, even without the outdoor antenna, and just plunked down on my desk, the 920 had a better range than any cordless I've ever tried in my life.
Should you buy one? Why do you want one? Is there a specific large area you need to cover? Carefully consider the area for which you need cordless coverage. Is it flat? Is it hilly? Is it heavily forested? Where can you mount the outdoor antenna? Ask yourself these questions BEFORE you buy. The phone is not a magic bullet, but has certain limitations which I have tried to outline in my comments above.
I reported purchasing the phone with some trepedation, keeping my options open to return it for a refund. Now that all is said and done, will I return it? Will I keep it? Let me tell you this: they can take my EnGenius SN-920 when they pry it from my cold, dead, hand!
